Why do I get this tingling sensation?

Ever since I was young I would get a unpleasant tingling sensation on the surface of my butt. It happens still and the only why I can get rid of it is to wait it out or, better yet, hide it with some thick surface like a wall, pillows, a mattress, or several sheets. What is it? And why does it happen?
