Sty on left eye, bottom corner by nose?

I read online that if you have a sty in the bottom corner of your eye by your nose to see an ophthalmologist or go to an ER. Anyone know why this is? I'm pretty sure that's what's developing in my left eye and going would be a PAIN. How could the placement of the sty mean it could be a problem? Thanks.
