How do I change how I taste "down there"?

sorry if this is gross!!!!! I asked my boyfriend how does it taste down there and he said the closer it is to the opening of my vagina, the stronger the taste is (in an unpleasant way). He says i've always been like this. I dont understand--I clean all the time. Every single time before oral or even sex, i take a bath. I even go wash once again right before, as to make sure that it is clean. I don't know what else to do. It doesnt smell bad or anything. It's just kind of embarrassing and i can tell the only reason he does it is to make me happy and not because he wants to. I feel stupid. please help!!! what else can i do to change how i taste down there?
