Crown on a tooth? please read!?

Is the post and crown going to be on your root canal tooth? If so, it shouldn't hurt at all. I just had a RCT done and needed a post and crown. I didn't even get numbed for the post and crown prep. You shouldn't feel any pain in that tooth because the pulp and nerves are gone. The worst part of my procedure was the brand new dental assistant who poked my gums too hard with the evacuator (big suction tip thing), so now I have an annoying cut where my gums and cheek meet.
